FAQ

Command

  • Overview
    Your Command buildings are responsible for all the non-Naval functions that keep your Pirate Haven shipshape. You start off with your Captain's Quarters already built - but you'll need to build a Market, Observatory, and Brethren Court before you can engage in any trade, discovery, or diplomacy.
  • Captain's Quarters
    Your Captain's Quarters is where you administer all the day-to-day functions of your Haven and its populace. From here you can rename your Haven and track your development statistics:
    - Warehouse and Rum Cellar capacity;
    - Rum consumption;
    - The number of Discoveries you've researched;
    - The number of Shipmates and Enemies you have;
    - Ranking points;
    - Buildings currently under construction;
    - All Buildings you've constructed and their current Level;
    - Haven coordinates and development statistics (Haven size, Defense Bonus, Stealth Bonus).
    Click on any Haven's parameter to upgrade it.

    Upgrading your Captain's Quarters reduces the construction time for all buildings in the game. The Captain's Quarters is already built when you start the game, so it's not in the construction menu.
    After you have upgraded this Building to a certain level, you will need Upgrade Etchings to upgrade it further. Upgrade Etchings can be acquired from the Smuggler's Den.
  • Observatory

  • Witch Doctor's Hut
    Witch Doctor's Hut
    In exchange for rare n' precious Pearls, the Witch Doctor will use his magic t' help ye customize the different attributes of your Haven and Units. To manage your Pearls and choose which traits ye wish to work his magic upon, ye must first build the Witch Doctor's Hut.

    Pearls
    Pearls are the main ingredient needed for each one o' the Witch Doctor's spells – makin' each one well worth its weight in Gold! Ye will receive Pearls with every new Level o' Experience ye reach in the game. The number o' Pearls received with each Level-up will increase as time goes by:

    Levels 16 – 34/ 2 Pearls
    Levels 35 – 64/ 4 Pearls
    Levels 65 – 79/ 6 Pearls
    Levels 80 + /8 Pearls

    Pearls must be EARNED, ye cheatin' scum! They can't be bought at the Smuggler's Den, given as gifts, or traded. As a sign o' our good nature – we've gone ahead and given ye all yer Pearls retroactively to reflect your current Experience Level.

    Applyin' Pearls

    Place yer magic compass 'pon th' Witch Doctor's Hut to access th' Upgrade Tree. On the Tree you'll be seein' all production line Units divided into Groups. To set about unlockin' different Unit attributes and branches on the Upgrade Tree, ye must progress through each Group sequentially. To get started, use two Pearls to unlock Group I by clicking upon th' "Upgrade Group I" button twice. Ye'll be noticin' that applying each Pearl takes time – this time will increase with each additional Pearl you apply to a Unit. (A word o' advice: ye'd be wise not to try rushin' yer Witch Doctor - 'less ye fancy wakin' up half-chicken, half-octopus.)

    Once ye unlock access to Group I, ye must upgrade each Unit's speed to Level 8 before moving on to the next. (This will increase to Level 10 for Groups IV and V.) Once ye have upgraded all Units to Level 8, ye may unlock access to Group II. Now ye have a choice – start working yer way through th' next Group, reduce the production time o' Group I, or go back n' continue upgradin' th' speed o' yer unlocked Units.

    Redistributing Pearls

    AVAST AND TAKE HEED, YE LILLY LIVERED CODFISH! Once you've applied your Pearls, you will get ONLY ONE CHANCE to remove them for free. To remove a Pearl, click the "Edit" button at the top of the Medicine Tree, and then click the "-" symbol next to the Pearl you want to recover. When in Editing Mode, you may ONLY remove Pearls you have applied and put them back into your Pearl chest. When you have recovered the Pearls you want, click "Apply" to make your changes permanent. You may now redistribute your recovered Pearls as you would normally (this includes waiting as the Witch Doctor performs the complex rituals needed to apply each Pearl).

    After your one free edit, you will need to purchase a special tool – the Witch Doctor's Cane - at the Smuggler's Den. It allows you to redistribute Pearls on the Upgrade Tree.
  • Skeleton Cave
    You must build the Skeleton Cave in order to use and store Relics (see the "Relics" section for more). There are 3 different sections in this building: Ship's Hold, Chamber of Relics and Activation Board.

    Ship's Hold. All Relics you gain are stored in the Ship's Hold for 48 hours before being lost forever. To save a Relic, drag it from the Ship's Hold to the Chamber of Relics.

    Chamber of Relics. You can store your Relics in the Chamber of Relics until you use or delete them. You start with 3 available Activation Slots out of 6 on the Activation Board. Invite Friends or use Rubies to open up extra slots in the Chamber of Relics and increase its storage capacity. The more Friends you have, the more Slots at the Chamber you can unlock. Each additional Slot unlocks for 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 Friends in the game. The more Slots at the Chamber you have, the more Relics you can store.

    Activation Board. To use a Relic, place it into any open Activation slot on the Activation Board at your Skeleton Cave. You have 6 Activation Slots in total, and can use no more than two Relics of the same category simultaneously. For example: 2 Offensive Relics, 2 Defensive, 2 Production. To use any Temporary or Permanent Relic, place it into any open gilded Slot and click "Activate". Temporary Relics can only be activated once.
